Nollywood actress Adunni Ade has announced the death of her mother, saying she died after a long battle with illness.
The actress disclosed the death in a post on her verified Instagram account on Monday, 19 October 2026, as she mourned the loss of her mother and offered prayers for her soul.
In the announcement, Ade expressed grief over the loss and reaffirmed her faith in Allah.
“Lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’un. Indeed, to Allah we belong, and to Him we shall return,” she wrote.
She added: “With a heavy heart and submission to the will of Almighty Allah, I announce the passing of my beloved mother, who returned to her Creator after a long battle with illness.”
Ade said her mother is survived by her children, grandchildren, sisters and other loved ones.
She also prayed for forgiveness and mercy for her late mother, asking Allah to make her grave spacious and filled with light and grant her Al-Jannah Firdaus.

Funeral Arrangements Yet To Be Announced
Ade said the family would communicate details of the funeral arrangements in due course.
She ended her tribute with a personal message to her mother, writing: “Mum, I love you. May Allah grant you eternal peace and reunite us in Jannah. Ameen.”
The announcement did not disclose the illness her mother battled, how long she had been ill or where she died.
The family has also not announced a date or venue for the funeral.

What Happens Next?
The immediate next step is the family’s announcement of the funeral arrangements. Until then, further details about the circumstances of the death remain unconfirmed.
The loss also highlights the personal toll of bereavement, including the emotional challenges faced by surviving relatives. However, Ade’s post did not provide details about the family’s circumstances beyond the announcement.
For now, the actress’s message centres on mourning, faith and gratitude for her mother’s life.
As the family grieves, further reporting should rely on confirmed information from Ade or her family, rather than speculation about her mother’s illness or the circumstances of her death.
