The Lagos State Police Command says it has arrested three men suspected of belonging to an armed robbery and carjacking syndicate operating in the Alakuko area of the state.
Police said the arrests followed what it described as “credible intelligence” gathered by its operatives as part of efforts to tackle robbery, carjacking and other violent crimes in Lagos.
The suspects were identified as Faruk Rasheed, 20, Olamilekan Ademola, 28, and Abidemi Oluwawemo, 21.
According to the police, preliminary investigations indicate that the suspects allegedly specialised in stealing cars and robbing residents of their valuables.
Police said officers recovered three locally made firearms and eight rounds of live ammunition during a search.
The recovered weapons included two locally made pistols loaded with five cartridges and a locally made revolver loaded with three rounds of 9mm ammunition.
The three suspects remain in police custody while investigators continue efforts to identify and arrest other alleged members of the group.

Carjacking and armed robbery remain major security concerns for residents, particularly in densely populated areas where criminals can exploit busy roads and escape routes.

Police promise further arrests
The Commissioner of Police in Lagos, CP Tijani Fatai, said the command remained committed to dismantling criminal networks across the state.
He also urged residents to report emergencies and suspicious activities to the police through the command’s emergency lines.

What happens next?
Police investigators are expected to continue questioning the suspects and tracing other members of the alleged syndicate.
